Durban July 2022 – Sparkling Water, Khumalo claim victory

As the crowds roared they opened the gates and they were off! Sparkling Water got the run of the race tucking in only 2l off from the pace at the rail waiting to strike under Khumalo. Once they turned in for home Khumalo gave Sparkling Water a slap and shake off the rein and the engine started!

Sparkling Water was well in control from the 400m and was cruising. Once she hit the front no-one was stoping her and she crosses the line winning by 3l. Jet Dark only got going late under top weight for a good 2nd. Safe Passage didn’t kick on but stayed on nicely for a even paced 3rd. Do It Again once again runs in the top 4 truly making him the best overall July performing horse over the past 4 years!
